On June 29th Ann Mills, Deputy Undersecretary of the USDA Natural Resources & Environment
visited Miami Lookout accompanied by several staff from the Mariposa office of the
Natural Resources Conservation Service. The purpose of her visit was to observe our tree mortality,
but once in the tower, she wanted to know about everything, in detail, regarding
the process of detecting, evaluating and reporting a fire to Sierra dispatch.
She was a most gracious guest and provided our staff with some of the pictures she took during her visit.
